-About Alicia

Struggling to breastfeed my daughter sparked a journey that has led me to pursue helping others. In 2014, this journey began with working alongside several professionals to discover my daughter had a tongue tie. She was eight weeks old. Her tongue tie release and the significant improvement in our breastfeeding relationship prompted me to learn more about issues that can happen as parents and children are learning to breastfeed. I wanted to know, for example, why a tongue tie exam isn’t routinely given at birth, and help other families overcome these complications and meet their breastfeeding goals. I have been helping parents and children with lactation concerns and joys for almost 5 years. I became a Certified Breastfeeding Specialist (CBS) in 2015 and a Certified Lactation Counselor (CLC) through Healthy Children and Families in 2016. In 2017, I became accredited as a Breastfeeding USA counselor. I will sit for my board exam to become an Internationally Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) in April 2020, and intend to hold this certification by July 2020. I have two children. I breastfed my son for 18 months, and my daughter for two years and seven months. We homeschool, and have been traveling the country for two years. I like roller skating, and trying every kind of dark chocolate I can find. I love what I do, and I’m happy to be on a team that empowers parents to make informed decisions with best possible outcomes as the goal.
